Product Information

A rear shock for the four-wheel-drive Ford F-150, from Fabtech's Dirt Logic 2.25 line. Our fitment data files it under 2011-2016, and the year range is flagged in Fitment Notes because the part title says otherwise. It goes in place of the rear shock absorber with a stainless steel body that Fabtech builds around one idea: corrosion should not be what kills your shock.

Why Upgrade to a Dirt Logic 2.25 Rear Shock

Per Fabtech, here is what the Dirt Logic 2.25 changes:

  • 304 stainless steel shock body. The brand's line is that it eclipses every other shock on the market for corrosion resistance, so road salt and mud have a lot less to work with over the years.
  • A finely detailed machine finish on that stainless body. When you are under the truck, the shock looks like it cost something.
  • NitroSteel piston rod. Super hard, and with more corrosion resistance than a chromed rod, which is where a lot of shocks start to pit and weep.
  • Urethane bushings at the mounting points instead of spherical bearings. That cuts the road noise and rattle spherical bearings bring, so the back of the cab stays quieter over broken pavement.

Fitment Notes

Our fitment data lists this shock for the 2011-2016 Ford F-150, Base trim, with 4WD. Does not fit the F-150 Raptor. [VERIFY: the part title says 04-08 F150 while our fitment data says 2011-2016, so confirm the year range before ordering, and confirm cab and bed configuration.]

Install and Honest Talk

This is a rear shock, so the existing rear shock comes off and this one goes on. Fabtech's material does not cover the install steps for this part number, so the included instructions are the manual: read them for what hardware is in the box, torque values, and whether the truck needs to be on a lift or jack stands before you start. What else you need: [VERIFY: supporting parts, hardware in the box, torque specs, whether the N/R in the part name means this is the non-reservoir version, and whether it is sold as one shock or a pair.]

Honest talk. A stainless body and a NitroSteel rod cost more than a basic replacement shock. You are paying for corrosion resistance, and if the truck lives somewhere dry and never sees salt, that is money spent on a problem you may not have. It is also a rear-only part with a machined stainless look, so whatever is on the front stays as it is and will not match.

Buying parts for your Mustang or F-150 should not feel like homework. Too many stores bury you in a giant catalog, slap the same distributor description on every product, and leave you guessing whether it even fits.

We do it the other way. We carry the brands you already trust, we tell you what a part actually does, and we give you the truth about the tradeoffs before you spend a dollar. Drone on that exhaust. Ride quality on those springs. Whether you need a tune. The stuff the big catalogs leave out.
